Denton Fence Permits
A permit and inspection are required to build a fence in this far-north DFW suburb, with a $44 application fee. Fences can be up to 3.5 feet in front yards and 8 feet elsewhere.
Fencing is not allowed in easements or right-of-way areas, and must be set back 10 feet from the street or 5 feet from the sidewalk. Near intersections, front yard fences are limited to 2 feet for visibility.
Fences must face the smooth side outward, allow drainage, and can be built using materials like wood, iron, masonry, brick, vinyl, PVC, or composite.
