Carrollton Fence Permits
In this wealthy suburb north of Dallas, homeowners are required to file a $50 permit to work on any new fence over 20 feet in length.
Fence heights are capped at 3 feet in the front yard (with 50% transparency) and 8 feet elsewhere.
The city calls for residents to face the smooth side of their fence toward public streets. It also bans fences in drainage or flood areas, within 3 feet of fire hydrants or within the visibility triangle.
Approved materials are wood, vinyl, wrought iron and brick/stone. Chain-link fences are only allowed as replacements or in interior lots.
Sight lines must be easy on the eyes, with no decorative embellishments towering more than 2 feet above a fence, and no support posts showing more than 4 inches above a fence.

The four stars is because it would have been helpful if someone from sales would have showed up at the time of installation to be sure the installer was clear on the details of the install. Fortunately I work from home so could answer how the pickets were going to face. I was told it would be in the work order but obviously the installer needed that clarification. The last reason for the four stars was the language barrier between myself and the installer. Several issues came up that needed solving and it was hard to communicate. All this being said the final product is gorgeous and Felipe did a masterful job.

Mike: The new fence construction went as planned. Looks good. Only reason I gave just an average overall review was due to one issue. You'll recall the fence borders a natural creek. After the installer finished the job I had to stop him while he was rinsing his cement wheelbarrow in the creek itself. Need to remind him to be more conscious of the environment when cleaning up. Good craftmanship, but poor project management/customer communication

I was pleased with the quality of the final product. However, the customer communication was very poor throughout the project. The company did not pro-actively reach out to me for updates when a delay was incurred, but rather I had to reach out to them constantly. Finally, a mistake was made twice, where the company failed to realize they needed a part, which delayed the project by 2.5 weeks.

Buzz was very customer-focused, showing a willingness to work around problematic grade issues in replacing my wood privacy fence. In fact, of the 5 fence companies I solicited for bids, Buzz was the only one which was ultimately ready to actually build it. The two man crew arrived on Monday and finished on Tuesday. They were friendly and professional, but more importantly, worked like craftsmen, instead of contractors. Their attention to detail resulted in a really good-looking fence, and compliments from neighbors.
