Prosper Fence Permits
This affluent suburb calls for residents to apply for a fencing permit. The permit fee is $30.
Side and back yards can have fences up to 8 feet tall.
Front-yard fencing must be approved by the Town Council. Even then, they have restrictions: no more than 8 feet tall with 50% transparency (no chain links) and no more than 3 feet for solid walls (which must be unpainted brick or stone, not concrete or stucco).
Further restrictions include no fencing on drainage easement, guidelines on post materials and thickness, smooth side of fence facing public, bottom of fence not touching ground, etc.
You must use insect-resistant wood such as cedar or pressure-treated yellow pine. No spruce. No electric, barbed wire, plywood, fiberglass, corrugated steel, razor wire.
