Coppell Fence Permit
In Coppell, a wealthy suburb of Dallas, you need a permit and a city inspection to replace or erect a new fence. The application cost is $50.
Backyard fences can be as tall as 8 feet. Front-yard fencing is not allowed.
Further restrictions include a 5-foot setback from the alley pavement, no barbed wire, razor ribbon, sheet metal or chain-link fences in residential areas, and no electric fences.
The approved materials are super specific: wood, metal/wrought iron, stone, brick and mortar, decorative metal, and composite fencing that is at least 75 percent wood fiber. Wood fencing can be earth tone colors only; metal can be off-white, black or earth tones only; and masonry fences can’t be painted.
