Meet William “Woody” Woodworth
How Did You Get Into Fencing? I was born in Austin and am a graduate of Del Valle High School, 1983. My Dad taught me how to build fences when I was 12 years old and everyone in my family knew how to build a fence. I served in the Army until 1992 and would build fences during my free time. After serving my country, I wanted to build fences for a living.
Recently my wife and I decided to move back to Texas to be near our siblings and their families. My wife and I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I have been a salesman and Fence installer for the last 21 years. I’m excited to work for Buzz Custom Fence and serve residential and commercial clients in Austin.
Why Do You Enjoy What You Do? My favorite part of this all is watching the fence project from the beginning to the end.

How Did You Get Into Fencing? Hi, my name is Gregg. I was born in San Jose, California. I graduated from Fremont Christian High School. In my free time I like to hike, golf, ski, and play games. I’m new to the fencing industry, but have been involved in all types of home improvements for about 15 years.

Fence Regulations in Austin, Texas
If you’re a homeowner in Austin, Texas, and you’re planning to build a fence, there are a few regulations you’ll need to be aware of. Buzz Custom Fence can help you navigate these regulations, which include:
- Permit Requirements: You’ll need to apply for a permit if your fence will be over 8 feet tall or if it will be located in a flood hazard area. The cost of the permit will depend on the total value of the project.
- Height Restrictions: Solid fences can be 6-8 feet tall. If you want a fence taller than 8 feet, it must be ornamental and have an open design with a solid-open ratio of no more than 1:4.
- Neighbor Approval: You’ll need to get approval from your adjacent neighbors before building a fence. If your land is next to city land, you’ll need to get approval from the Board of Adjustments.
